Singer Selena Gomez slammed her critics, saying if she was “truly everything that people say” she is, “you would see it.” In a candid interview with syndicated radio host Elvis Duran, the 22-year-old talked about her trust issues, her new song, how she feels about being in her 20s and how her friend Taylor Swift is convincing her to get a cat.

The former Disney star released her single, “Good For You” with A$AP Rocky Monday but she has always been in the news more because of her on-and-off relationship with Canadian pop star Justin Bieber. The singer/actress talked about her feelings about having to deal with public scrutiny on her personal matters.

"If I was truly everything that people say I am, you would see it," Gomez said. She also talked about how her life is so public she cannot hide her emotions. “But I'm also a normal person, I'm a human being, and I'm feeling things. I get sad, I get anxious, I get emotional, I get happy! Especially in my 20s, my gosh!” the singer said.

Gomez also talked about how she is often criticized for “trying to live my life." "People are like, ‘We want you to be better!' ... And everybody's like, 'I want you to be healthy, I want you to be happy, I want you to be this.' And then the moment you're trying to find some sort of happiness, it's so crazy. It's not safe for anyone!" she said. The singer added she is too scared to share her personal feelings with anyone because she knows they would be taken out of context and “ripped apart.”

The “Come and Get It” singer said she has a right to say what's on her mind but it is unfortunate she always has to be guarded because she does not trust anyone. “It's something that I have to live with and I have to find the balance of who I want in my life and who isn't good for me."

The ex-girlfriend of Bieber does not like to go out much because of the fear of paparazzi and ends up spending most of her time at home. That is the reason why Swift is "trying to convince" the star to buy a cat for company. She also explained how she now tries to convey her feelings through her music. “Good For You” is about "the confidence of me turning into a young woman," she said. Check the song below.
