Rapper PnB Rock was fatally shot while he was dining at a food joint in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon.

The 30-year-old rapper, best known for his 2016 hit "Selfish," was dining with his girlfriend at the Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles restaurant when the shooting incident happened, reported Los Angeles Times.

An unidentified suspect barged inside the restaurant and targeted the rapper while the latter was enjoying a meal with his girlfriend Steph Sibounheuang, TMZ reported. Prior to the incident, PnB uploaded on his Instagram Story feed a video of himself lip-synching to a tune while wearing expensive chokers inside a car driven by Sibounheuang.

It is believed the rapper has been targeted for his jewelry.

Before the violent attack, the rapper's girlfriend had shared a location-tagged photo of their meal at the restaurant in a now-deleted Instagram post. Her post was shared by a Twitter user who wrote, "PNB rock's girlfriend posted their location on IG. 20 minutes later some robbers came and shot him. The same scenario happened with Pop smoke. You people need to learn to stop posting your location while you're still there."

"He shot the victim and ran out the side door to a getaway car and then fled the parking lot," Los Angeles Police Capt. Kelly Muniz said.

The rapper was taken to a hospital but he succumbed.

The shooter is still on the loose. LAPD investigators are examining security video from the restaurant and from surrounding establishments to identify the suspect.

PnB Rock, whose real name is Rakim Allen, signed with Atlantic Records and moved to L.A. following the release of his 2014 debut mixtape. Since then, he has collaborated with Ed Sheeran, Chance the Rapper, Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz, Kodak Black, Young Thug and A Boogie wit da Hoodie. He is also known for his hip-hop tune, "Fleek," which became a famous Vine video in 2015. He released two studio albums, "Catch These Vibes" in 2017 and "TrapStar Turnt PopStar" in 2019. His latest track, "Luv Me Again," was droopped on Sept. 2.
