shameless season 5 spoilers
The "Shameless" EP revealed that fans would "freak out" over the changes that Debbie (Emma Kenney, right) and Fiona's (Emmy Rossum, left) characters would face in Season 5 of the Showtime drama. Showtime

The seasons are changing and so are the characters of the hit Showtime series “Shameless.” According to reports, everyone’s favorite Chicago clan will be making not-so-subtle transformations when the drama returns Sunday, Jan. 11 – specifically the Gallagher girls.

During an interview with TVLine, executive producer Nancy Pimental teased that everyone is “going to freak out” when they see how Debbie (Emma Kenney) has evolved since Season 4 concluded. “She’s rarin’ to have sex,” the EP elaborated on the hormonal development of the middle child.

It’s true. Debbie’s itch for sex has become a full-on irritation for Season 5. In the trailer for the coming installment, viewers can see Deb’s desire to lose her virginity being taken to a whole new, competitive and dare we say, scary, level.

“If you lose your virginity before I do, I’ll stab you to death in your sleep,” she promised her brother Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) in the promo video. Debbie then showed her brother exactly how she would kill him by enacting the murder with a doll.

But Deb won’t be the only one experiencing boy troubles when “Shameless” returns. According to reports, Fiona (Emmy Rossum) will also have her own issues when Season 5 premieres. “She’s still confronted with how to make the best choices, especially when it comes to guys,” Pimental revealed to TVLine. Could that be why Fiona will be juggling four potential suitors at once?

The Gallagher matriarch will be sifting through men, trying to find one that’s right for her. Fiona's impending fellas include Sean Pierce (Dermot Mulroney), her boss at the diner, who is a recovering addict (and according to Rossum, not that into Fiona – at first), the bad-boy rocker Davis (Axle Whitehead), Davis’ not-so-hardcore bandmate (Steve Kazee), and Jimmy/Steve (Justin Chatwin), who made his exciting return to “Shameless” in the final moments of the Season 4 finale.

Rossum dished during an interview with Variety that Fiona and Debbie aren’t the only ones spending the summer season in a romantic haze. Frank (William H. Macy) will be falling in “real love” in Season 5 too! “So we'll see that happen, which will be really interesting. And one of our main characters gets married, as well, so it'll be an interesting season,” the actress revealed.

“Shameless” will return Sunday, Jan. 11, at 9 p.m. EST for its Season 5 premiere.
