A Sharjah ruler’s fashion designer son, Crown Prince Khalid al Qasimi was found dead in a London apartment on Monday morning. UK authorities say the 39-year-old died in "unexplained circumstances."

The police in a statement said a man in his late 30s was found deceased inside the property in the upscale Knightsbridge area. The death is unexplained as an autopsy failed to identify the cause of death.

The CCN said that the Emirate of Sharjah, Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed al Qasimi announced the death of his last surviving son, Khalid who had moved to London at the age of nine, in a statement on Tuesday. The United Arab Emirates has announced a three-day mourning with flags flying at half-mast across the nation.

The deceased was the founder of an eponymous fashion brand in 2016 and had also showcased his collections at the London and Paris fashion weeks. Khalid had established his first fashion label Qasimi Homme in 2008. His official web portal Qasimi said his goal was to creat a ‘world of beautifully crafted products infused with cultural, social and political undertones to inform and to aspire.

“Khalid was praised for his tenacious yet sensitive exploration of social-political issues, particularly pertaining to the Middle East and its sometimes strained relationship with the West, a subject very close to his heart and upbringing,” the platform said.

Prince Fahad al Saud of Saudi Arabia said he loved the work of Khalid al Qasimi. “This is so sad, I loved his work. Rest in power,” he said.

Khalid is survived by his three sisters and one half sister. His half brother, Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi had died of a heroin overdose in 1999.
