One person in a car was killed in a shooting near Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) campus Wednesday night. The Cambridge police are investigating the incident.

The victim drove to Kendall Square after being shot and stopped across Main Street from the Boston Marriott Cambridge Hotel, according to MIT. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was reportedly declared dead.

Details of the victim were not released.

Police said they are interrogating witnesses and searching for a suspect or suspects, the Associated Press reported. No one has been taken in custody yet.

MIT police officials said there was no threat to the university community. However, they cautioned students to stay away from the shooting area around Marriott Hotel and Main Street.
