YouTube Premium’s new series “Sideswiped” follows a young workaholic, played by Carly Craig, who decides to go on a date with all 252 guys she swiped right on after a drunken Tinder session. Her first Tinder hookup is played by Tyler Posey, who was apparently the perfect guest star.

Craig is also the “Sideswiped” showrunner, so she had some say in casting. When it came to choosing the Tinder dates, she knew that they had to be respectful actors. Sex scenes are awkward enough, but Posey’s lightheartedness helped break the ice.

“For that being the first person that I had to do that with, he was the best person because that guy’s got no inhibitions,” Craig told International Business Times. “He’s extremely respectful and funny. … That one was one of the more awkward ones, but he made it really fun just because of who he is.”

Posey, who fans will recognize from “Teen Wolf” and “Jane the Virgin,” plays a fitness-loving twentysomething who hooks up with Craig’s character, and he’s one of many familiar faces in the series. Charles Michael Davis (“Younger”), Bryan Greenberg (“The Mindy Project”) and Thomas Lennon (“The Odd Couple”) all appear as dates while Rick Springfield, Peter Gallagher and Jason Sudeikis also make appearances. Craig says both her great casting department and her good friends are to thank for the collection of actors.

“Brett Greenstein and Collin Daniels were our casting people, and they were amazing. And then some of them were my friends. Jason Sudeikis was a friend who actually shot that teaser even before I sold it. … So he was great and did it as a favor, really. Tom Lennon was a friend, but a lot of the casting was done through either friends of other producers on the show or through our great casting directors. They killed it, I think, in the casting department. I was really happy with it. But it was a team effort.”

And while her character has plenty of dates, those tuning in to “Sideswiped” on YouTube Premium should expect something a little deeper than just hookups. Craig’s Olivia is trying to figure out her life while also seeming to be a magnet for awkward situations. She is dealing with her newly widowed mother who is living with her, a younger sister who may have gotten married a little too early and the fact that at 35, she needs to start thinking about if she really wants kids.

“It’s not a date of the week show, so it’s not going to be a ton of that,” Craig told IBT. “You’ll have to kind of see where it goes with her dating life. There’s times when she’s going to run into her ex. There might be a guy that lasts for a little bit. She’s someone who hasn’t dated for a while. When you haven’t dated for a while, in the beginning, you’re a little sluttier, and then after a while, you’re like ‘OK, stop, let’s do this right.’ It’s kind of like that.”

“Sideswiped” Season 1 is now available on YouTube Premium. The first two episodes are available for free.
