Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” has been airing since 2005, but is 2019 the year that the reality competition series ends?

Tonight’s finale episode will reveal Season 16’s winner after the final four dancers perform. Will this season’s winner be the show’s last, though? Fox isn’t quite sure.

The show hasn’t been canceled or renewed for Season 17 yet, with the network still mulling over the decision, but the ratings aren’t exactly in the series’ favor.

Ahead of tonight’s finale, this season currently averages a 0.48 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.081 weekly viewers, according to TV Series Finale. In comparison, last season averaged a 0.62 rating in the demo and 2.696 million viewers, but those numbers also included Season 15’s big finale episode.

While “SYTYCD” has been on the bubble for the last few seasons and its ratings either holding steady or dwindling, there’s still a chance it’ll be renewed for Season 17.

The summer series didn’t get a Season 14 renewal until February 2018 and didn’t get its Season 15 renewal until January 2019. That means Fox likely won’t make its renewal or cancellation decision until the start of 2020.

In the meantime, “So You Think You Can Dance” fans still have tonight’s explosive Season 16 finale, which airs on Fox at 8 p.m. EDT, to enjoy. Check it out to see the final four dancers perform and the winner crowned.
