Brazilian soccer player Ronaldinho has partnered with the decentralized exchange P00LS to launch his own token, called RON. The ERC-20 token will be formally launched and can be earned on the P00LS platform on Thursday, the company said Monday.

"The $RON token will allow holders to fully immerse themselves in Ronaldinho’s universe, from exclusive content, events and merchandize to token-gated channels and NFTs. At its core, the $RON token community represents a new way for fans to gain access to Ronaldinho and connect with one another," the statement read.

Hugo Renaudin, founder and CEO of P00LS, said, “As one of the world’s most beloved and recognized sports stars, the launch of Ronaldinho’s token marks a massive step for his community, for P00LS, and for the creator economy at large. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome him to the platform and to the P00LS community.”

P00LS says its is the leading community-first Web3 protocol for creator cryptocurrencies.

This is not Ronaldinho’s first engagement with the digital asset space. Earlier this year, the soccer player engaged with Graph Blockchain to organize events and NFT experiences for his fans. He also became an official global ambassador of the blockchain protocol.

Soccer star David Beckham has also hopped on to the bandwagon. American lawyer Mike Kondoudis revealed in a tweet that Beckham had filed three trademark applications for NFTs, virtual clothing and entertainment events in the Metaverse.

Last month, Beckham became the global brand ambassador for the cryptocurrency firm DigitalBits.
