Previous leaks for the Sony Xperia XZ3 have shown that the device will arrive with dual cameras on its back. However, a new set of renders for the Xperia XZ3 has surfaced online and it shows that the handset will only have a single lens camera on its back.

The new renders for the Xperia XZ3 were shared online by Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) in collaboration with CompareRaja. Hemmerstoffer says that the renders were based on factory CADs and it could be the most accurate depiction of the upcoming handset. The Xperia XZ3 is also shown in a 360-degree video that has been posted on YouTube.

The Xperia XZ3’s dimensions are expected to measure 158.3 x 73.08 x 9.9/10.1mm. The Sony handset is also said to feature a glass back, so it could have support for wireless charging. The renders also show that device’s display will have rounded corners. The display itself is believed to be 5.7 inches with a full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,160 and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The display won’t have a notch, which should please a lot of consumers.

In a follow-up tweet, Hemmerstoffer says that the Xperia XZ3’s display could actually be roughly 5.9-inch diagonally, but it’s difficult to say for certain since rounded/curved displays are difficult to measure accurately. The handset is also expcted to be IP68 water and dust resistant.

Inside, the Xperia XZ3 is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, the same chipset that’s powering 2018 Android flagship phones. The Snapdragon 845 will be accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. The handset is also packing a decent 3,240mAh battery.

On the back of the Xperia XZ3 will be a fingerprint scanner sitting just below the single camera. Previous leaks suggested that the XZ3 would arrive with dual cameras on the back, but that may have simply been inaccurate. Perhaps Sony is reserving the dual-camera setup for the “Premium” version of the XZ3, as speculated by GSM Arena. No information was given on the sensor for the rear camera, but the front-facing camera is believed to be a 13-megapixel shooter. The Sony Xperia XZ3 is also expected to arrive with Android 9.0 P straight out of the box.

The Sony Xperia XZ3 might make its official debut on Aug. 30 during IFA 2018 in Berlin, as pointed out by Phone Arena. Sony has already scheduled a press conference for that date and it’s possible that the XZ3 Premium might also be announced alongside the regular XZ3 during that same event.
