  • Palpatine was a clone in "Star Wars: The RIse of Skywalker"
  • The novelization of the movie confirms the fan theory
  • More secrets may be revealed in the comics

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” brought back the classic villain of the franchise Darth Sidious (Ian McDiarmid). While the return of the character came as a shock, the movie itself did not reveal how he managed to survive after that fall in the second Death Star. Now, the novelization of the movie has revealed this bit of information and it confirms a popular fan theory.

Palpatine used some dark arts of the Sith in order to survive after his seeming death in the original trilogy. Now, the novelization of “The Rise of Skywalker” has confirmed that he used cloning technology to return in the flesh, Screen Rant reported.

Advanced copies of the novelization were released at the C2E2 event in Chicago, and according to the details that have surfaced online, Palpatine managed to survive by transferring his spirit into the body of a clone.

The revelation comes with the scene when Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) meets the Emperor for the first time. In this scene, he notices that the device Palpatine is strapped to is something he had read about from the Clone Wars. He also realized that the clone body was not capable of keeping Sith Lord’s spirit, and because of the character’s immense power the clone body was degenerating quickly.

More secrets about the film may be revealed in the comics that will be released soon. According to the official website of the franchise, the comics of the movie will be written by Jody Houser, the art will be by Will Sliney, and covers will be from Phil Noto.

Meanwhile, the visual dictionary of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” has been released. The dictionary reveals details like how the First Order led to Final Order and why the fans didn’t get to see Kylo Ren’s ship the Finalizer.
