  • Alex Silva and Adrian Mattheis are set to face each other in a rematch at ONE 158
  • Silva is out to prove that their first fight was prematurely stopped
  • Mattheis wants to shatter all doubts about his previous win over Silva

There will be times when games or fights end controversially, and for those who were able to catch ONE: Lights Out last March, there was a duel that was not spared from controversy.

The match in mention is the one between Adrian Matheis and Alex Silva as the former won the bout with a flurry of punches leading the referee to call a halt to the contest.

However, in the eyes of Silva, the official should not have waved it off in the second round. A

ll that is water under the bridge although it does set the stage and could give both Mattheis and Silva added motivation when they clash again at ONE 158 on Friday, June 3.

“It’s always going to be an opinion on what happened if [the referee] did not stop it. [Mattheis] could have finished me. I could have finished him. Nobody knows what was supposed to happen on that night. We’re going to know what will happen next Friday,” Silva said via his Instagram account.

Silva made it clear that he holds high regard for Mattheis, seemingly not wanting to deprive “The Papua Badboy” of winning their last joust.

However, he remains confident when they clash anew at ONE 158, although he admits it will depend on the situation he finds himself in the rematch.

“It depends where the fight drives me. I can’t say what am I going to do. Sometimes it’s not what you want, but what is the best way to take a submission. Like, you chase for one thing but you’re going to end up with another thing. So whatever he offers to me by mistake, I’ll take it,” Silva stressed.

Although he won the last time out, Mattheis wants to settle all doubts that marred his last victory in ONE Championship.

The Indonesian is confident he will come out victorious anew at ONE 158.

“I know that a lot of people want to see if I am the real deal. I want to prove that I’m that good and put to rest the arguments. So I’ll go and do my best. The rest is up to God,” Mattheis stated.
