A video left on Ushio's phone is likely to unravel the mystery behind Ushio and shadow Ushio in "Summer Time Rendering" Episode 9.

The official website has unveiled the synopsis of Episode 9. In the video on the phone, Ushio and her shadow stand together, shocking Shinpei and Sou.

Ushio tells the duo that only she and her shadow are capable of unlocking her phone.

In "Summer Time Rendering" Episode 9, Ushio's video recording reveals Shiori came to see her on July 17 with a strange story.

Shiori told Ushio that someone was following her when she was walking back home. However, Ushio brushed her off saying that it must be a creep.

She asked Shiori if she informed Totsumura about it. Shiori was getting worked up because Ushio was taking her lightly. Ushio asked her if she will be coming to the beach to pick up trash with a few islanders.

On July 18, Mio and Ushio saw something at the beach that would change everything.

"Upon hearing of Ushio's death, Shinpei returns to his hometown of Wakayama City on Hitogashima and reunites with his childhood friend's family. The funeral goes smoothly, but under the surface, something strange is brewing on the island. What mysteries await him on this secluded summer island?" the official synopsis of "Summer Time Rendering" manga read, according to Manga Plus.

The cast of the anime includes Anna Nagase as Ushio Kofune, Natsuki Hanae as Shinpei Ajiro, Maki Kawase as Tokiko Hishigata, Saho Shirasu as Mio Kofune, Tesshō Genda as Alain Kofune, Yōji Ueda as Tetsu Totsumura, Yōko Hikasa as Hizuru Minakata, Akio Ohtsuka as Seido Hishigata, Jin Urayama as Ginjiro Nezu, Katsuyuki Konishi as Masahito Karikiri and Kensho Ono as So Hishigata.

The opening theme song of "Summer Time Rendering," titled "Hoshi ga Oyugu," is performed by Macaroni Enpitsu. The closing theme song, titled "Kaika," is by cadode.

"Summer Time Rendering" anime, directed by Ayumu Watanabe, is based on the original story by Yasuki Tanaka. Hiroshi Seko is credited for the series composition and scripting.

"Summer Time Rendering" Episode 9 is slated to air Thursday. Fans in the U.S. can watch the anime on Disney+. The episode will stream in Japanese with English subtitles.
