Sunbeam Crock-Pot Recall 2020: How To Get A Free Repair

Sunbeam Products has recalled nearly 1 million crock-pots after receiving 99 reports of burn injuries from the product.

The recall affects the 6-quart Express Crock Multi-Cooks Crock-Pots that have a model number of SCCPPC600-V1, which is located on the label at the bottom of the unit.

The crock-pots were manufactured from July 1, 2017 to Oct. 1, 2018 and have date codes of K196JN through K365JN and L001JN through L273JN. The date code is engraved on one of the prongs of the electrical plug located on the bottom of the base.

The crock-pots were sold nationwide at retail stores, including Walmart and Target, as well as online at Amazon.com and other online retailers from July 2017 to November 2020. The crock-pots sold for about $70 to $100.

The issue with the crock-pots stems from the lid, which can pressurize when not fully locked, causing the lid to suddenly detach when in use. This can cause hot food and liquid to eject from the crock-pot, causing a possible burn hazard to consumers.

Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the crock-pot in pressure cooker mode. They can, however, continue to use the unit for slow cooking and sauteing.

To repair the issue, Sunbeam is providing a free replacement lid. Consumers should contact Crock-Pot at 800-323-9519, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST or visit the company’s website at recall.crock-pot.com for more information.

To continue using the crock-pot in pressure cooker mode while waiting for a replacement lid, Sunbeam said consumers should be certain the lid is securely turned to the fully locked position by aligning the arrow on the lid with the lock symbol on the base.

Sunbeam has received 119 reports of the lid detaching from the crock-pot, resulting in 99 burn injuries, ranging in severity from first- to third-degree burns.

Earlier this month, Yeti recalled over 200,000 20-ounce Rambler travel mugs also over a possible burn hazard because the magnetic slide mechanism on the Stronghold lid could accidentally pop off and spill hot liquid.
