Although the characters on “Switched at Birth” Season 5 still seem to be growing up in different ways, in episode 8, “Left in Charge,” it looks they will have to choose whether they will handle their issues in a mature manner or let immaturity get the best of them.

“Bay (Vanessa Marano) and Daphne (Katie Leclerc) throw a ‘lights on’ party at their apartment to pay their electric bill, but things go awry when uninvited guests get out of control,” the synopsis for the Freeform series teases.

In the promo for episode 8, Bay can be seen telling John (D.W. Moffett) that she doesn’t think she can do this. Her father is later seen explaining to Bay that she is going to have to change some things if she cannot afford her lifestyle.

“Meanwhile, Simone (Maiara Walsh) turns up looking glamorous,” the synopsis for “Switched at Birth” says. For those who may not remember, Simone slept with Emmett (Sean Berdy) while she was dating Bay’s brother Toby (Lucas Grabeel). She also began to abuse alcohol but seemed to have pulled her life together after attending AA meetings.

Simone and Bay have been enemies for quite some time and her appearance could cause tension. In the Freeform promo, Simone can be seen telling Toby that she hates the way they left things.

Simone has already apologized to Toby for sleeping with Emmett, could she have done something even worse that requires an apology?

“Daphne and Chris (Sam Adegoke) get to know each other better,” the synopsis states. In the promo for episode 8 of the Freeform series, Daphne and Chris can be seen sitting on the bed kissing.

Although it is unclear what they may have talked about, it looks like their conversation definitely brought them closer. Daphne can later be seen telling Kathryn (Lea Thompson) that she learned something at the clinic. Did she discover something about Chris?

Elsewhere, “Kathryn and Regina (Constance Marie) do some old-school snooping on Luca (Michael Galante) after Regina sees a questionable text on his phone,” the synopsis says.

It’s no secret that Regina doesn’t feel secure in her relationship with Luca. Although he has expressed that he cares deeply for her, she is caught up on the fact that he is younger than her and that he may want to see girls his own age. Will her insecurities ruin their relationship?

“Switched at Birth” Season 5, episode 8 airs on Tuesday at 9:01 p.m. EDT on Freeform.
