On Monday, tragedy struck again for Sylvester Stallone. "The Expendables 2" star's half-sister, Toni-Ann Filiti, died on Sunday at the age of 48. Filiti had been battling late-stage lung cancer. According to Radar online, she left the UCLA Medical Center, where she was being treated, in order to spend her final days with her mother, Jackie Stallone. Filiti moved into the 90-year-old's home in Santa Monica, Calif., just before her death.

On August 9, the New York Post reported that Filiti was in "critical condition" and obtained a statement from Jackie.

"After losing my grandson, this has been too much to bear," she told the outlet. "Toni Ann is not doing well at all. She has lung cancer Stage four, she has liver cancer, it has spread to her brain."

According to Hollywood Gossip, Filiti was twice divorced and had a son, Edd, from her second marriage to actor Louis A'Alto.

Jackie Stallone told the Daily News that she broke the news of Filiti's death to her son.

"He said he can't take any more pain," she said. "He said he'll always be there for her son."

Stallone appeared to be visibly upset while out with his two daughters, Scarlet Rose and Sistine Rose, on Monday. This is the second major heartbreak the iconic actor has suffered within the past six weeks.

On July 13, Stallone's son Slade was found dead at the age of 36. He was discovered by his housekeeper in his Studio City, Calif., home. According to the Daily News, the cause of death has yet to be confirmed by the Los Angeles County Coroner's office. The site purports that a drug overdose may be to blame.

While promoting "The Expendables 2," the 66-year old told Good Morning America that dealing with his son's passing has been "very, very tough."

''It's a horrible situation but, time, hopefully will heal and you try to get through it," he continued. "It's something that's a reality in life.

''It's important to get back and try to start re-living your life. Otherwise you can go into a spiral.''
