Samsung Electronics plans to introduce the world slimmest LCD TV at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this week. According to the the company, the LCD TV thickness is one seventh of Samsung's Bordeaux 850 LCD TVs, which is currently the thinnest on the market. Samsung's new product, measuring only 6.5 millimetres (0.26 inch) thick, is thinner than any other existing TV set, and even slimmer than most mobile handsets.

Pioneer to stop making 42-inch plasma panels

Pioneer Corp will stop making 42-inch plasma panels and instead buy panels in that size and smaller from Panasonic maker Matsushita Electric Industrial or Hitachi Ltd to turn around its loss-making flat TV business, the Asahi newspaper said.
