KEY POINTS

  • Lito Adiwang returns from an ACL injury at ONE on Prime Video 6 in January
  • Adiwang welcomes Mansur Malachiev to ONE Championship
  • Malachiev will debut with an undefeated 10-0 record

One of Team Lakay's most explosive stars will be making his long-awaited return to the ONE circle.

Strawweight contender Lito Adiwang is set to face undefeated Russian newcomer Mansur Malachiev on the undercard of ONE on Prime Video 6 on January 14th at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 29-year-old native of Baguio City, Philippines has been on the shelf for the better part of 2022, rehabbing an ACL injury that he suffered in a fight against fellow Filipino contender Jeremy Miado at ONE X back in March.

A graduate of the ONE Warrior Series back in 2019, Adiwang took ONE's strawweight division by storm, defeating the likes of Senzo Ikeda and Pongsiri Mitsatit to establish himself as a future star and a possible title contender.

After dropping a split decision loss to Hiroba Minowa, Adiwang bounced back and picked up back-to-back victories over Namiki Kawahara and Hexigetu to once again reinsert himself into the discussion of contenders in the strawweight division, then ruled by stablemate Joshua Pacio.

Adiwang would fall to would-be champion Jarred Brooks, before losing to Miado via injury TKO to mark"The Thunder Kid's" first two-fight skid under the Singapore-based martial arts promotion.

Now, Adiwang will try to work his way back into contender status, and expect him to be even more motivated to get to the title, especially since the title is no longer held by one of his Team Lakay comrades.

It won't be an easy out for Adiwang in his return to action as he's set to face an undefeated prospect in Malachiev, who has yet to taste defeat in ten professional outings.

A veteran of Khabib Nurmagomedov's Eagle FC outfit, Malachiev comes to ONE Championship as the reigning Eagle FC bantamweight champion, with eight of his ten career wins coming by way of stoppage—including five wins by submission.

This will indeed prove to be a dangerous assignment for the returning Adiwang, who has had some trouble facing top-level grapplers in the past.

On the other end of the spectrum, this should be a huge opportunity for Malachiev to prove in his promotional debut that he can indeed hang with ONE's best strawweight fighters.

ONE on Prime Video 6—the promotion's first offering for 2023—will feature a loaded card headlined by Superbon Banchamek vs. Chingiz Allasov for the ONE featherweight kickboxing world championship, while Elias Ennahachi meets Superlek Kiatmoo9 in a rematch for the ONE flyweight kickboxing world championship.

The card is also expected to feature Rodtang Jitmuangnon vs. Daniel Puertas in a flyweight kickboxing match.

Furthermore, Stamp Fairtex faces Anissa Meksen in a hybrid MMA-Muay Thai exhibition.
