Since the release of Netflix's original “Tiger King,” Carole Baskin has become a household name. Now, she is launching her newest venture--a new Cryptocurrency.

This new currency, $CAT, or Crypto Cat Currency, is only available for use at Baskin’s Big Cat Rescue animal sanctuary in Tampa, Florida. Visitors and fans can use the currency to purchase merchandise or online experiences and it starts at $5.

"I'm investigating cryptocurrencies because I am concerned about the volume of US dollars that are being printed and distributed with nothing to back them up," read a statement released by Baskin. "...Our new $CAT coin is not a currency for investment, but rather is a purr-ency of our fans to show their love for the cats."

In about two weeks, Big Cat Rescue will be launching nonfungible tokens, NFTs, which can’t be traded, and contains access to virtual experiences such as visits with the cats, as well as "elite access to live walkabouts and conversations with Carole Baskin."

According to Baskin's statement, the goal of the coins and the virtual experiences is top help contribute to the effort of ending abuse and captivity of wild cats.
