With the 2022 Masters set to start next week, there is increased speculation that Tiger Woods will compete in the tournament. The 15-major champion, who flew to Augusta National on Tuesday, is set to practice on the course, according to reports.

Woods has not officially announced that he won’t play in the Masters, though taking part in the tournament has seemed extremely unlikely. Woods hasn’t participated in an official PGA Tour event since his single-car accident in February of last year. He has only played in December’s PNC Championship with his son Charlie.

After rumors suggested that Woods traveled to Augusta, Sports Illustrated reported that Woods was at the course. The 2022 Masters officially start on April 7.

The 46-year-old has said he plans to compete in future PGA Tour events, though he hasn’t given a timeline for his return. When Woods does come back, he’s expected to do so on a part-time basis, playing tournaments every so often.

If Woods is part of the Masters field, he’s not expected to be among the top competitors. Two years before his car accident, Woods stunned the sports world by winning the 2019 Masters, earning his fifth green jacket.

Betting odds for Woods to win the Masters improved amid speculation that he might play next week.

Jon Rahm leads the field as the betting favorite to win the Masters. Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas are also top contenders at Augusta.
