Tom Cruise, who is reportedly moving to London to spread Scientology in Europe, will not attend his daughter Suri Cruise’s 10th birthday on April 18, according to latest issue of InTouch magazine, cited by Hollywood Life. The reason behind remaining absent on Suri’s birthday is the filming of his upcoming movie “The Mummy,” the report added.

Cruise “is in the middle of filming The Mummy and couldn’t tear himself away,” a source told the magazine, according to Hollywood Life. The source added that the 53-year-old will be in Oxford, England, at the time of Suri’s birthday.

However, another reason for Cruise not being available on his daughter’s birthday is reportedly the Church of Scientology, a religion the actor follows.

Katie’s “heart breaks for Suri,” the source told the magazine. “[Cruise] had plenty of chances to see Suri in the past,” the insider said, noting that it has been over 900 days since he has seen Suri. But Katie has been called a “suppressive person” by the Church of Scientology, the report claimed, and “the closeness to her daughter likely makes seeing them both off-limits to Tom.”

“Tom sees pictures of Suri growing into a young woman…and it eats away at him that he’s not there for it,” the source told InTouch, according to the entertainment website. However, Cruise is planning to make amendments after changing Suri’s custody arrangement, the report added.

“[Cruise] swears…he’ll take the necessary legal steps to alter Katie’s primary custody arrangement,” the insider told InTouch.

The report comes after Daily Mail said that Cruise is planning to move to the Scientology headquarters in the United Kingdom after selling his London house to spread the religion to Europe. Cruise is expected to move into the 100-acre estate in a bid to expand Scientology in Europe. Latest renovations at the headquarters are reported to be worth $16 million.
