KEY POINTS

  • AC Milan may be planning a series of tactful transfer moves this summer
  • Milan is interested in Tottenham and Jose Mourinho's key right-back Serge Aurier, a report said
  • Hertha Berlin playmaker Lazar Samardzic is also a prospect of Milan

After missing out on the Champions League, AC Milan is now preparing transfer moves this summer which will include Tottenham and Jose Mourinho’s key right-back, Serge Aurier, a report said.

Milan didn’t have its best season in the Italian top-flight. However, I Rossoneri has already set up plans to come in stronger next season.

Should AC Milan lose either of its current right-backs this summer, the plan is to pursue Tottenham's Aurier, Sky Sports Italy reported. It has been noted that Aurier would be a “concrete target” if Milan will decide to sell either Davide Calabria or Andrea Conti.

Before having a great run for Tottenham this season, Aurier almost left Spurs last summer. The 27-year-old appeared to be overlooked for the opening games of the season under previous boss Mauricio Pochettino. However, Aurier managed to redeem himself and has found a steady spot in Mourinho’s current squad.

Despite struggling with lapses in concentration under Pochettino, Aurier has adapted well under Mourinho. In fact, he has been the Spurs’ first-choice this season, following the departure of Kieran Trippier last summer.

After an up and down season in the Premier League, several areas of Tottenham’s squad are set to be addressed when the transfer window opens. But Mourinho insisted that at this point, Hotspur will not engage in massive transfer negotiations, saying, “Have I had assurances I will not need to sell key players this summer? Yes. There will be small changes.”

Aside from pursuing Aurier, Milan is said to be plotting another strategic move for Hertha Berlin playmaker Lazar Samardzic. Italian sources revealed that Milan could also attempt to leverage their castaway Ricardo Rodriguez in order to secure a transfer deal for Samardzic, Calciomercato Milan’s Milanlive.it reported.

If the potential swap deal will progress, it will be the second transfer deal Milan and Berlin will complete this year.

It can be recalled that the two clubs have already successfully negotiated a deal for striker Krzysztof Piatek back in January. This time, Milan appears to have made the first move as Rodriguez’s agent, Gianluca di Domenico, has already met with Berlin’s management sometime last week, the report noted.

Sources also noted that Milan has been attempting to sign 18-year-old Samardzic since January. Rodriguez, on the other hand, has spent six months on loan at PSV Eindhoven, but even until last season, the Swiss left-back has not been able to reach a fine form.
