  • Aubameyang had a rough falling-out with Mikel Arteta and Arsenal

Following his exit from the Emirates Stadium, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang buckled down to work right away by joining his new team in Barcelona.

Per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the 32-year-old was pictured at the Barcelona training camp ahead of the official announcement of his deal with the club.

He arrived in Spain on Monday, January 31, something that sparked rumors that the Gabonese striker was set to join the Catalan giants.

The Independent's report added more to speculations, claiming that Aubameyang signed with Barcelona on a free transfer.

Aubameyang’s departure from Arsenal was already expected after the Gabon national fell out of favor with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.

Furthermore, he was stripped of the team’s captaincy this past December due to an alleged disciplinary breach that also saw him getting omitted from the team’s match against Southampton.

The last time Aubameyang suited up for the Gunners was on December 6, coming in as a late substitute in Arsenal’s loss to Everton.

After that, Aubameyang left to see action in the Africa Cup of Nations for his home country. Unfortunately, he tested positive for COVID-19 and missed the team’s group campaign.

A move by Aubameyang to Barca was held up due to wage-related issues.

The Blaugranas needed to find a way to fit in the £350,000 ($473,650)-a-week salary of Aubameyang, and it appears all parties concerned were able to resolve that.
