  • Mikel Arteta is confident that Arsenal's chances of Aubameyang signing will be better with an FA Cup title
  • Aubameyang has one year left and appears to prefer staying at Emirates Stadium
  • Arteta lauded his team for playing with better chemistry against big clubs

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave Arsenal F.C. yet another reason to take him seriously after a masterful showing against Manchester City in their FA Cup semifinal duel. The Gunners won, 2-0, allowing them to reach their 21st FA Cup final.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta credited the club's chemistry for their success. They now await the winner of the other semifinal duel, which pits Chelsea FC against Manchester United. And whoever they face may have dire implications on the future of the Gabon national's decision to remain at Emirates Stadium.

"There is a great chemistry between them [the players] and they really believe in what we are trying to do," Arteta said via ESPN. "We’ve had an incredible week to beat the best two teams in Europe, it doesn’t happen every day."

Aubameyang was at the helm of the Gunners' win, scoring in both halves at Wembley. The performance further proved how vital the Gabon national is to Arsenal. Now all Arteta can hope for is that he remains with the club and aligns with the rebuilding efforts.

"Hopefully it will help him to be more convinced we are going in the right direction," Arteta said.

The Gunners have all the reason to be pumped up. Before City, they also brought down Liverpool. Despite the adjustments the club is making, it speaks well about the efforts of Arteta, and Aubameyang remains a vital part of his plans.

Though his contract does not end until next summer, it appears a new lease could be forthcoming. Talks were held before the COVID-19 pandemic, although Aubameyang's father wanted it all to be signed with everyone physically present.

Aside from that, there was that Instagram Live post that sent the football world into a frenzy. When asked to blink if he was staying at Emirates stadium, the 31-year-old exaggerated a wink before he ended up grinning. Some felt that Aubameyang was just playing around. However, that could easily mean something.

The next couple of weeks will likely provide a clearer picture of the future of Aubemeyang. But for now, the Gunners need to maintain their focus and prepare for whoever they may face in the FA Cup final.
