KEY POINTS

  • Dortmund is keeping tabs with Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana
  • Onana is drawing interest from multiple teams in the next transfer window
  • BVB is moving on from the underachieving Roman Burki

One of the top names to keep track of in the summer transfer window is shot-stopper Andre Onana.

The 24-year-old has one year left in his current deal with Ajax although the Dutch champions are expected to exhaust all means to keep him at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Onana is regarded as one of the top goalkeepers available in the summer market and multiple teams have been linked to the Cameroonian.

The latest club who has him on their radar is Borussia Dortmund, a team looking for someone to take the place of Roman Burki.

The current number one has failed to live up to expectations, and Onana is someone who could replace him.

"Don't get me wrong, I am very happy with Ajax and I am very grateful to the club. It was five great years here. But now my time has come to take a step,” Onana said at the time to a Dutch newspaper.

However, the reality is that he has options once his current deal runs out. Other clubs who have allegedly expressed interest in him include Chelsea, Tottenham and Barcelona.

But none have formally pitched offers as of this writing. Borussia is no different.

Rather, BVB is keeping tabs on the Cameroonian’s situation and is aware that the Dutch giants are open to selling Onana at the right price.

For now, it remains to be seen how much Ajax would want for the Cameroonian goalie.

With Burki failing to meet expectations, the only alternative for Ajax right now is Marwin Hitz. He will be out of contract in the summer, so Onana could be the guy replacing him.

"I don't yet know what will happen, but my ambitions and agreements are clear," Onana said.

Onana has done his part this season with just 15 goals conceded in 20 league games, a reason why Ajax established a significant lead at the top of the Eredivisie.

The club holds a seven-point lead ahead of PSV. They face Utrecht this weekend.

Dortmund is currently at the No. 6 spot in Bundesliga, and they trail leader Bayern Munich by 13 points as of this writing.
