  • Brighton is in discussions to acquire Eddie Nketiah
  • Odsonne Edouard looms as an alternative for Nketiah
  • The Seagulls are looking for more firepower by getting Nketiah

Eddie Nketiah has not exactly gotten the break to establish himself in the English Premier League.

He was loaned out to Leeds United, and it appears he is imminently heading out of the Emirates Stadium this summer.

The 22-year-old has a year left in his current contract with the Gunners. However, he could end up moving to a new club soon with reports that multiple teams are interested in taking in the English striker.

Of the teams who have an interest in Nketiah, it seems Brighton is the one in the lead as of this writing. Other teams that have been linked to the striker are West Ham United and Crystal Palace.

The Seagulls are prioritizing a striker for the coming season to provide Neal Maupay some scoring help.

According to reports, Nketiah is a top target by Graham Potter. Arsenal is reportedly seeking a £19 million ($26.35 million) for the striker, a fee that most clubs feel is a bit expensive.

But in the case of Brighton, it appears they plan to negotiate for an acceptable amount.

One thing that could work in their favor is the fact that they already closed a deal for Ben White back in July for £50 million ($69.35 million).

Considering both sides were able to agree on White, the Seagulls may be hoping to get the same kind of courtesy for Nketiah who has been underutilized.

If nothing is consummated, Brighton may have to look at other options.

Another striker they could consider is Odsonne Edouard. It was previously reported that Celtic and Brighton were in discussions for the French player.

The Bhoys have valued Edouard at about £20 million ($27.74 million), roughly about the same amount they plan to dangle for Nketiah.

Hence, it all now boils down to who between Edouard and Nketiah that Potter would deem as fit for the team this coming season.

Nketiah has been performing well in the preseason, something most see as a way for him to draw attention and get a good deal from other teams.

He rejected a new contract with the Gunners, an indication that he is looking for a new home.
