  • Borussia Dortmund has reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven's Donyell Malen
  • Malen is likely to fill the void Jadon Sancho will leave at Dortmund
  • A host of English Premier League clubs are also tracking the striker

Jadon Sancho will soon be leaving for Manchester United, but Borussia Dortmund is already working on his replacement.

Erling Haaland is still in the squad, but a big change is expected to happen next season with Sancho already heading to Manchester United.

However, Borussia Dortmund has been keen on filling the void Sancho will leave, and the search is finally over as the Bundesliga side has now taken a step closer in signing PSV Eindhoven striker Donyell Malen, Goal’s Ronan Murphy reported, citing German outlet Bild.

Murphy further revealed that Borussia Dortmund has already tabled a €25 million ($29.5 million) offer, but PSV Eindhoven is demanding €30 million ($35 million) for the prolific striker’s exit.

Prior to reaching an agreement, Malen has been on the radar of a myriad of big-name suitors in the English Premier League, including Liverpool.

The Reds were said to be keeping tabs on Malen since April, and earlier this month, a report said that talks had already begun between Liverpool and Malen’s famed agent Mino Raiola.

What’s even more interesting is that PSV Eindhoven is believed to have long been expecting Malen’s departure and has been eager to close a deal for the 22-year-old.

Aside from Liverpool, West Ham United was also linked to a move for Malen for a while.

The Hammers were once expected to pursue Malen after West Ham boss David Moyes heaped praise on the Dutchman ahead of the UEFA Euro 2020.

According to Moyes, Malen is one of the players to watch out for in the coming years.

Hence, he also revealed that he has known the forward’s potential for a long period of time and it is no surprise that clubs are now tracking him.

“[Donyell] Malen is an interesting talent who comes into the category of up-and-coming players to watch,” Moyes recently told U.K.'s The Times. “He probably starts the [Euro] tournament as back-up to Memphis Depay but he scored 27 goals for PSV Eindhoven last season. And Holland are still striving to find their best XI and formation. Which means you might see some of their young players getting opportunities.”

“Malen was at Arsenal as a youngster and is attracting [English] Premier League interest again,” the coach added.

Malen scored 27 goals that went along with 10 assists in 45 games for PSV Eindhoven last season.

Atop that, he finished the campaign as the Dutch Eredivisie’s top goalscorer, having bagged 19 club goals.
