  • Messi reportedly wants a fellow Argentine striker in Barca
  • Barca are targetting Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez
  • The 22-year-old striker has scored 16 goals this season for Inter

FC Barcelona reportedly have agreed to personal terms a striker Lionel Messi has wanted for a while.

The club has been struggling in terms of form and off the field too as there have been quite a few controversies within the club that have reached the media.

It all began with the sacking of previous manager Ernesto Valverde. That was followed by Barca’s sporting director Eric Abidal making remarks against the players. He told a Spanish media firm that the players did not work hard under Valverde. The comments did not go well with Barca skipper Messi, who took to social media to slam his former teammate Abidal for those allegations.

The Argentine himself had been struggling to score until Barca’s recent La Liga match against Eibar. He went goalless for four straight matches but during the goal drought, he chipped in with crucial assists that kept his team go forward. Barca, who have already suffered four losses in La Liga, regained their top spot in the table last week after they thrashed Eibar 5-0 and Rela Madrid lost 1-0 to Levante.

Even though Barca are two points clear on the top, there is no guarantee that the points table scenario would remain like this for the rest of the season, keeping in mind how inconsistently Messi and Co. have been playing this season.

Messi, who ended his goal drought by netting four times in Barca’s latest win in La Liga, has admitted that he is not happy with the current situation at the club but has also insisted that Barcelona is his home.

Amidst several rumors of Messi’s departure from Nou Camp, the club reportedly is trying everything to keep the talisman happy.

It is understood that Barcelona’s sporting agents have now agreed to personal terms with the club’s major target- Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan. Messi’s fellow Argentine, Martinez, has been in a lethal form this season having scored 16 goals across competitions for the Italian side. Messi and Barca consider Martinez as an ideal successor to aging Luis Suarez.

According to El Desmarque, the 22-year-old Argentine could earn $7.5 million per season and will be eligible for some bonuses too. Martinez could bag a five-year deal with the Catalans that would end in the summer of 2025.

It is also understood that while Inter Milan are reluctant to give away their talented striker but if Barca generate the release clause of $120 million, the Italian side would not want to hold back then.
