  • Three more teams join the race for the services of Ousmane Dembele
  • Dembele's camp has reportedly thumbed down the latest offer from Barcelona
  • Newcastle runs as a strong candidate to acquire Dembele

Ousmane Dembele will be a big fish that several teams will try to snag in the free-agent market.

The 24-year-old forward has already been linked to Arsenal and Newcastle, but it appears more clubs have joined the mix.

According to 90Min, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have joined the race for the services of Dembele.

There is a chance that this may grow especially following the latest update on Dembele’s contract renewal drama.

According to journalist Gerard Romera, the French forward has rejected the latest contract renewal pitch of Barcelona.

In that update, negotiations have reportedly fallen apart and things do not look promising.

This would be a disappointing development for Xavi Hernandez who was keen to retain the services of the 2018 World Cup winner.

However, the problem is that Dembele wanted more money even if he has not played well as of late.

The French footballer has been struggling to recall his old form due to injuries. Aside from that, his attitude off the pitch leaves a lot to be desired.

Having said that, Camp Nou supporters may care less if Dembele ends up leaving Barca once his current deal runs out.

Even if he does stay, critics are likely to question the figures of a potential new paycheck. He is already earning a hefty £200,000 (135,000) a week.

Unsurprisingly, the Blaugranas are not open to spending more on Dembele especially following the arrival of Ferran Torres from Manchester City.

So unless a new twist happens, Dembele could leave Camp Nou as early as the January transfer window.

Dembele would make sense for all teams linked to him, meaning it will all boil down to who would risk paying him more.

Out of the several clubs in the mix, the easy bet is the Magpies who are expected to make a big splurge in January.

With their new backers, Newcastle has money to spend.

However, it remains to be seen if Eddie Howe would be open to giving Dembele a higher wage than what he is receiving right now.
