  • Thiago Alcantara is bent on leaving Bayern Munich
  • Liverpool has been mentioned as Alcantara's next stop
  • Manchester United also reportedly nearing a deal for Alcantara

Thiago Alcantara still has a year left in his contract with FC Bayern Munich, but it appears he could be moving as early as this summer. After reportedly failing to come to an agreement with Der FCB, the 29-year-old midfielder seems "very sure" about a potential move to Liverpool, a report said.

Thiago wanted a four-year deal from Bayern, but Die Roten was only willing to give him a three-year extension. A move to Anfield Stadium became more certain following reports that the midfielder has put his house in Munich up for sale as early as now, Sport Bild reported (via Metro).

It has yet to be revealed if Thiago has had any talks with anyone from the Liverpool side. However, it is no secret that Liverpool is keen on adding the midfielder.

But before that can be completed, there is the matter of the transfer fee. Bayern wants close to $45 million for Thiago, but The Reds are trying to lower that asking price by half, offering $22 million, according to Sport Bild.

Despite this issue, some believe that Thiago moving to Anfield will eventually happen. During an interview on B/R's "Football Ranks" podcast, Christian Falk, the head of sport at German newspaper Bild, said recent developments regarding the decision and actions of the Spanish player point to an exit this summer.

"He didn’t extend his contract and the way he did it was not very gentlemanly," Falk, who is described as "one of the most trusted transfer sources in the game," said of Alcantara. "I think he will leave but he has to bring a club. He is very sure that he has a club and we know the club."

"But the big question is is the club paying the fee that Bayern Munich is expecting," he added.

Despite these developments, Bayern top brass Hansi Flick remains hopeful of keeping Thiago in the fold. He is trying to remain positive about the matter.

Flick is aware of the concerns of Thiago, particularly about his remaining playing years. Right now, he seems aware that his hands are tied and that he can only do so much to convince Thiago to stay.

Liverpool is not the only team in pursuit of Thiago. Manchester United is another club reportedly giving chase, and there are reports that the Red Devils are nearing a deal for the 29-year-old player, Catalan newspaper Sport reported (via SportWitness).

Other teams also interested in Tiago include Manchester City and Juventus.
