KEY POINTS

  • Mattheus Pereira is expected to part ways with West Brom this summer
  • West Brom's asking price seems reasonable for clubs to pursue the Brazilian
  • Pereira is keen to join a championship-caliber squad next season

Mattheus Pereira’s time in West Bromwich appears to be coming to a close, and the Brazilian is not short of suitors.

Brentford and Norwich City lead the pack of interested teams, and a deal is likely to go down this summer transfer window.

According to reports, the two teams are looking to raid the Baggies after they were relegated back to the Championship.

Furthermore, West Brom appears ready to part with the 25-year-old player at a reduced asking price of about £15million ($21 million).

It hardly comes as a surprise that the Bees and Canaries are targeting Pereira. Despite a poor season by the Albion, the Brazilian had his share of great moments.

He scored 11 goals in English Premier League action and six assists as well. In addition, he averaged a goal every other game and this is seen as the reason why several clubs are interested in his services.

West Brom would prefer to keep the man they called “Magician.” However, it remains that his level play is tailored for teams at a different level, ones that can compete for a championship.

Aside from Brentford and Norwich City, other teams in pursuit of the Brazilian are West Ham and Leeds United.

The Hammers view Pereira as a potential replacement for Jesse Lingard, while the Peacocks may see the West Brom winger as someone who can cover the void left by Pablo Hernandez.

Two other teams have also been linked to the Brazilian in Arsenal and Aston Villa.

The Gunners are set for a major rebuild and Pereira could be the No. 10 that head coach Mikel Arteta is looking for.

Aston Villa may also make a pitch for the services of Pereira. However, that may still hinge on what the future holds for Jack Grealish, who has been linked to a move to Manchester City.

For now, the only thing that appears to be certain is the Pereira won’t be suiting up for the Baggies next season.

If the asking fee of West Brom is pegged at $21 million, more could come in to swoop the Brazilian this summer transfer window.
