They may not be on the verge of reuniting, but there’s no reason to believe that Jennifer Aniston is making an attempt to derail Justin Theroux’s career following their separation after two years of marriage.

Amid reports that the “Dumplin’” actress was trying to get revenge on her ex by derailing his career, the actor has finally broken his silence on their split, which they went public with in February of this year. In an interview with the New York Times, the “The Spy Who Dumped Me” star revealed that despite their marriage not working out, he and Aniston had no animosity towards one another when they quietly decided to end their marriage in 2017.

“The good news is that was probably the most--I'm choosing my words really carefully—it was kind of the most gentle separation, in that there was no animosity,” he said. “In a weird way, just sort of navigating the inevitable perception of it is the exhausting part.”

“[It] doesn’t have that seismic shift of an ordinary couple, where everything is, like, you have to tear a baby in half,” he added. “Neither one of us is dead, neither one of us is looking to throw hatchets at each other. It’s more like, it’s amicable. It’s boring, but, you know, we respected each other enough that it was as painless as it could be.”

He also revealed that the one regret he has when it comes to the split was that the friendship he shared with the actress had to change as a result of their overall relationship changing, but that they were both adjusting to that change.

“It was heartbreaking only in the sense that the friendship would not be the same, as far as just the day to day. But the friendship is shifting and changing, you know, so that part is something that we’re both very proud of,” he said.

His interview comes on the heels of a report that was refuted by Gossip Cop, which claimed that Aniston wanted to derail his career out of revenge because he had been seen dating several different women since their split.

“She’s fed up with him dating every model and actress in sight and acting like they were never married,” the false report from In Touch read. “She plans to use her influence to have him marginalized in the TV and film business... She wants him on the C-list.”
