Did Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman really have a showdown while promoting "Big Little Lies" Season 2? This is what a new report is claiming, but this rumor has now been debunked.

Kidman, Witherspoon and other cast members of "Big Little Lies" Season 2 sat down for a panel at the Television Critics Association tour earlier this month to promote the HBO series. During the talk, Kidman revealed that there is "no plan" yet for a third season of "Big Little Lies." According to New Idea, this was reportedly where the "showdown" between her and Witherspoon began.

Kidman's blunt statement reportedly caused a lot of tension between her and her co-star. An unnamed source claimed in New Idea's report that Witherspoon kept shutting Kidman down at every opportunity, forcing Meryl Streep to intervene. However, there is no evidence proving such, and no other outlet has reported on the two having a tense exchange.

But the New Idea report further claimed that Witherspoon reportedly got fed up and "exploded at" her co-star backstage. Witherspoon reportedly accused Kidman “of being spiteful and selfish for not pre-warning anyone that she didn’t want to return, which would make it impossible to write a new season.”

“Nicole was physically shaking and stood in disbelief as Reese laid into her and she was accused of trying to sabotage Reese’s career," the questionable source added.

The unnamed source went on to claim that the reason Kidman didn't want to return for "Big Little Lies" Season 3 was because she "felt bullied and belittled" on the set.

However, there is absolutely no truth to the claim. In fact, Witherspoon and Kidman, along with their other "Big Little Lies" co-stars, seem to share a close friendship.

Witherspoon even recently shared a photo of her and the "Big Little Lies" cast, including Kidman, on her Instagram. "Keep your friends close, and your happy hour crew closer," she captioned the snap.

The actress also gave a special shoutout to Kidman and her "Big Little Lies" co-stars on "Galentine's Day."

“True love is the love you have for your sisters, your girlfriends, your circle of strong women… and the ones who tell you that you have food in your teeth,” she wrote on an Instagram pic of her with the other cast members.

Kidman also seems to have nothing but love for Witherspoon. She also shared a photo of the "Big Little Lies" Season 2 cast on her own Instagram page, along with a special message for the "talented ladies" she works with.

“I’m loving seeing so many empowered women supporting women on my feed today… It reminds me how lucky I am to be surrounded by some truly talented ladies myself," she wrote.
