  • Kamala Harris was spotted running up and down the stairs at the Lincoln Memorial Saturday
  • One of Harris' Secret Service agents joined her in running while wearing a suit
  • Some Twitter users were impressed with Harris' workout, while others were concerned about the protection officer

Kamala Harris showed off her stamina over the weekend with her stairs workout.

A video shared on Twitter showed the 56-year-old vice president running up and down the steps at the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday. Harris ditched her usual Converse Chucks for a pair of proper running shoes, which she paired with an all-black outfit, face mask and baseball cap.

However, Harris was not working out solo as one of her Secret Service agents was keeping up with her, running up and down the stairs in a suit. It didn’t go unnoticed to Twitter users, with some feeling bad for the protection officer and others finding the whole thing funny.

"I like watching Kamala work out because it’ll never not be funny to see the secret service guy run the stairs behind her in a suit," one commented with a laughing emoji.

"I am weak watching SS run behind Kamala on these stairs," another added.

"Imagine being on duty to guard Kamala that day and you gotta run the stairs again like high school sports! I’d QUIT," a third user wrote.

"She's awesome!..but am I the only one who feels bad at her Secret Service for having to run up and down the stairs? Lol," a fourth netizen asked.

Another user suggested that her protection officer may have enjoyed getting to exercise as well. "Haha, I go back and forth on that. I read a few books of presidents/First Ladies, and there are stories of SS liking it. They get to exercise too, and they shower when going back to Eisenhower building," @HausofJaggers wrote.

Some social media users got the chance to meet Harris and shared some photos they took with the vice president as well as her husband, second gentleman Douglas Emhoff, who was also getting his workout in that day.

"It was amazing running into Madam @VP during our 5 miler this morning!" Instagram user @gobobbygogo wrote. "We checked out the @TheGlassCeilingBreaker display dedicated to her then noticed that she and @SecondGentleman were actually running steps at the Lincoln Memorial behind us. I also loved how he waited atop the steps to give her a supportive too! #coupleswhorunogether."

However, some were not impressed with Harris working out at such a public place.

"Why are people celebrating Kamala running up a set of stairs what the f--k?" another netizen asked.

"Am I the only one that was annoyed at Kamala a-- going all the way to them stairs just to run? Like girl you got stairs at the White House n could run whole laps around that mf too..... if she wanted to she could shut down a whole gym," another added.

One eyewitness, meanwhile, thought seeing Harris "doing normal things" was a "very surreal" experience.

"[Harris is] just a normal person going about her day and getting a workout in. There were secret service all around her," Samantha Borell, a 26-year-old sales representative for Mondelez who was visiting the city over the weekend, told the PA news agency. "She was interacting with people but made sure to keep her distance from them. She’s also tiny — it was very surreal seeing the most powerful woman doing normal things."
