Twitter users have mixed opinions about the timing of Princess Beatrice's pregnancy announcement.

On Wednesday, the cousin of Prince Harry announced that she and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are expecting their first child together. However, the date Princess Beatrice chose for her pregnancy reveal raised some eyebrows as it was the same day Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were celebrating their third wedding anniversary.

Reacting to the news, some Twitter users speculated that Princess Beatrice may have picked this date deliberately to steal the spotlight from the Sussexes.

"Congratulations. Great timing of the announcement. Thunder stealing works both ways," one person commented.

"I think that it was inevitable they were going to gob off today after Princess Beatrice & Edo’s great news, And I was so happy that they announced it on a date that pissed Off Ginger & Winger for a change! As per usual, it Haz to be ALL about them," another commented.

"It doesn't matter now, they are no longer in the same league as the Royals. The pregnancy announcement confirmed that for all the world to see. They now join the rest of the celebrities in the background 'entertainment news,'" a third user wrote

Some poked fun at Prince Harry and Markle's previous claim during their interview with Oprah Winfrey that they exchanged vows privately three days before their 2018 royal wedding.

"You’re wrong! According to Megain they got married 3 days earlier so their wedding anniversary would have been 3 days ago. Today is the anniversary of their public wedding for the plebs to feel included!" a person wrote with a laughing emoji.

Many others simply congratulated Princess Beatrice and her husband for the pregnancy and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex over their third wedding anniversary, saying the timing of the announcement should not be an issue.

"Stop finding a way to have a dig at Harry & Meghan. The baby announcement should be just that. Congrats to Beatrice, No need to comment on timing. It's unnecessary," one wrote.

"I really doubt the Sussexes are upset about a family announcement being made on their wedding anniversary, especially as they have their own one due very soon. Why mention them anyway?" another tweeted.

"Yes, congrats to Beatrice! There is room to celebrate everyone. Sussex Squad don’t mind celebrating Beatrice’s baby on the same day as Harry and Meghan’s anniversary, they’re still likely asleep in California anyway," another user added.

"Love princess Beatrice love Prince Harry too. Congrats to both and happy anniversary Harry and meghan are also doing this incredibly," a fourth one wrote.

Princess Beatrice and her property developer husband got engaged in Italy in September 2019 and wed during a secret ceremony in front of Queen Elizabeth II and close family at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor in July last year.

The couple had planned to tie the knot on May 29 in the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace, but the ceremony was postponed due to the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018. After welcoming son Archie a year after their wedding, the couple is now expecting their second child, a baby girl, due this summer.
