  • He is being linked to fighting McGregor
  • Khabib's manager, however, feels McGregor will not get that bout

Reigning Lightweight UFC Champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s renowned manager Ali Abdelaziz has claimed that Conor McGregor is currently “irrelevant” in the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) world.

One of the greatest fighters in the MMA, Georges St-Pierre (GSP) is reportedly set to make his octagon return.

GSP had once before retired from UFC. Having been named the Canadian Athlete of the Year by Rogers Sportsnet in 2008, 2009 and 2010, he has also been listed as the top MMA Welterweight of all time in the history of MMA. He retired as the reigning Welterweight Champion in December 2013, when he also held the record for most wins in title fights and the second longest combined title streak in UFC history (2,204 days) while defending his title nine straight times.

He returned to the Octagon in November 2017 at UFC 217, when he defeated Michael Bisping by submission to win the Middleweight title and made him only the fourth fighter in the history of the UFC to be a multi-division champion. He finally announced his retirement, once again, in 2019.

However, recent reports have suggested that GSP could be returning again to the octagon and has been linked to fighting McGregor in his retuning fight. However, during a recent interview, Khabib’s manager, Abdelaziz rubbished those reports.

“Conor is irrelevant right now. Listen, Khabib is number 1. Number 2, Gaethje, and Tony. Conor is number 4. Why are we even talking about Conor? Nobody Cares about Conor. Conor had an opportunity to fight Gaethje, now, Gaethje’s going to fight for the title and Conor’s going to sit in a stand watching, or maybe he’s like illegally streaming the pay-per-view,” Abdelaziz told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto in a recent interview.

The report further stated that Abdelaziz has blamed the media for the hype on McGregor. “You know what the problem is? The media created Conor. We always talk about Conor. I am talking about high-level fighters, I am talking about killers. We are not talking about money fights,” the Egyptian manager added further.
