Georges St-Pierre details how he could beat Khabib Nurmagomedov. Khabib's manager says GSP could come before Tony Ferguson.

The GSP-Khabib fight has been a hot subject in the MMA world these past few days. Despite the fact that Nurmagomedov is set to defend his title against a different opponent, his team is open to do a "legacy fight" with St-Pierre.

Just a few days ago, St-Pierre had an interview in which he revealed that Nurmagomedov is the only fighter he will fight if he ever makes a comeback. The former UFC middleweight champ also detailed how he will be able to dominate the current UFC lightweight champ should they ever face each other inside the octagon.

"I think there are different areas of the fight that I’m better than him. Even though he’s better than me in some stuff, I’m quicker in and out, and controlling the distance, and getting inside for the takedown. [I'm] faster in the open stance. He’s better near the fence, I’m better in the open," St-Pierre pointed out to TSN.

St-Pierre was insisting that if the fight will not go to the ground, he can take over and win.

“If I keep that fight in the open, I win.”

While the French-Canadian MMA star roots for a showdown with Nurmagomedov, he is also aware of the downside of the "legacy fight" in the part of UFC as a promotion.

“Maybe they don’t want me to beat him because if I leave after that, I ruin their whole investment,” St-Pierre said.

Nurmagomedov's manager Ali Abdelaziz had also hinted at the possibility of fighting St-Pierre during a recent interview.

Abdelaziz said that the lightweight division is stacked with "killers" but a St-Pierre fight could go first before the other lightweight title contender, Tony Ferguson.

"You know, got a lot of killers in this weight division. You got my man Georges St-Pierre. He might be next too. I can see Georges fighting Khabib before Tony fights Khabib. But of course, Dustin Poirier is next," Abdslazis pointed.

St-Pierre's last fight was against Michael Bisping back in 2017. And even though St-Pierre came off a four-year layoff entering the Bisping fight, he managed to submit the former middleweight champ to steal the 185-lb title.

Nurmagomedov on the other hand, has proven that he is the best in his division when he finished former two-division king, Conor McGregor, to remain undefeated with a 27-0 record across his name.

Despite both fighters being open to battle each other, the UFC is expected to weigh things first before giving the fight a nod.
