U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife first lady Michelle Obama recently visited London where they met several members of the British royal family, including the toddler Prince George. In a speech during his London trip, the American president teased that the young royal prince was one of the reasons he went to Britain.

Obama and his wife enjoyed dinner hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as Prince Harry, on Saturday. The two also had the chance to spend a few minutes with Prince William and wife Kate Middleton’s oldest child, Prince George.

Following his meeting with the royal couple and their son, Obama teased in a speech that he only came over to see Prince George, Hello magazine reported. Obama said the reason why he traveled to London was “no secret.” He shared that he also wanted to relay his birthday greetings to Queen Elizabeth II, who recently celebrated her 90th birthday.

"I guess you all know why I came this week. It's no secret. Nothing was going to stop me wishing happy birthday to Her Majesty, or meeting George, who was adorable,” the president said.

The 2-year-old royal prince was also reportedly said to have been allowed to stay up 15 minutes past his bedtime to meet the president. A few snapshots of their encounter were also shared on social media through Kensington Palace’s official Twitter account. One image showed Prince George wearing a white robe and pajamas as he sat on a rocking horse, while his parents and Obama looked on.

Meanwhile, another photo that was uploaded on Twitter featured the U.S. president trying to talk with the toddler. Kensington Palace described the picture as the moment Obama and Michelle met Prince George.
