American fans nationwide had a raucous reaction to the U.S. men’s national team’s 2-1 victory over Ghana on Monday, holding viewing parties and packing into bars to support their countrymen.

The U.S. team finally got revenge against the nation that knocked them out of the last two World Cups. An opening-minute goal from team captain Clint Dempsey – the fifth-fastest goal in World Cup history – gave Team USA a quick lead.

For the next 80 minutes, the Americans weathered a relentless offensive assault from Ghana, which outshot the United States 21-8, during the game. Team USA also had to survive without the services of forward Jozy Altidore, who left early in the first half with a strained hamstring.

Ghana’s Andre Ayew scored in the game’’s 81st minute, tying a game that looked to be headed for a draw. However, reserver defender John Brooks, who filled in for an injured Matt Besler, scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute on a header coming from a corner kick.

After Brooks’ goal, Americans at bars and parties around the country engaged in wild celebration. Here’s a roundup of the best American fan reactions to the win against Ghana.
