Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) will be back in “Vikings” Season 5, episode 18. A preview video of the next episode that has been released online shows the former queen of Kattegat as a broken prisoner. Meanwhile, forces will gather against Ivar (Alex Høgh Andersen).

After the war against King Harald (Peter Franzén), Lagertha had gone missing. Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) was right to suspect foul play because a preview video of the next episode posted on Facebook showed his mother as a prisoner.

Lagertha is a changed woman now. The once proud warrior queen has lost so much over the years that it has finally become too much for her to handle. She is now a prisoner in Wessex.

Judith (Jennie Jacques) is quickly emerging as the new villain on the show. Lagertha appears to have been imprisoned on her orders. Judith will go meet her prisoner in the next episode. Lagertha is scared and appears to be out of her mind. The death of Bishop Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) has affected her very deeply.

In a previous interview with ET Online, Winnick said that she started playing Lagertha as a character in her 20s. She confirmed that the fans will get to see her character in her 50s on the show, which requires extensive prosthetics makeup to make the actress look older.

Wessex is safe for now in “Vikings” Season 5. While Ivar is planning to raise an army to attack, there is an army preparing to march against him. His brother, Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø), was supposed to bring in allies to aid in the invasion of the Saxon kingdom, but he will focus his energies on convincing his allies to fight and retake Kattegat.

Meanwhile, Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) will meet with three Danish kings in the next episode. His goal is to convince them to join Alfred’s (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) army to stop the invading Viking army. In the previous episode, Ubbe had requested Alfred to make the former the general of the army, something that will not be acceptable to the people in Wessex as well as the allies.

What was missing in the “Vikings” Season 5, episode 18 preview was the Iceland storyline. After the events in the previous episode, that storyline appears to have been completed. According to a review by Forbes, Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) has been “wasted” in this side story of the show. It remains to be seen what his next move will be.

“Vikings” Season 5 airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on the History Channel.
