It’s go time “Walking Dead” fans! October may be far away, but the hit AMC series is one step closer to returning. Why is that, you may ask? Because May 5 appears to be the first day of work for the cast and crew!

“Let’s do this!” Dary Dixon’s Norman Reedus posted on Instagram. “Day 1.”

Reedus’ post accompanied a collage of images of him. On the far left, the actor can be seen taking a selfie while in character as the crossbow-wielding zombie apocalypse survivor Daryl Dixon. The center photo shows Reedus taking a selfie while sticking his tongue out in a blood-stained robe, and the photo on the far right shows him giving the middle finger while wearing a horse mask.

The images don’t reveal anything about Season 5. However the text definitely sent “Walking Dead” fans into a tizzy.

“October can’t come soon enough! I’m having my own Reedus marathon tonight!!” one Instagram user posted.

“Stay alive Daryl!” another follower of Reedus’ commented.

While we can only assume that “Day 1” is referring to the beginning of Season 5, Norman Reedus’ post does coincide with the return of his fellow co-stars to Georgia. Josh McDermitt (Dr. Eugene Porter), Michael Cudlitz (Sgt. Abraham Ford), Christian Serratos (Rosita Espinosa), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (Bob Stookey) and Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes) all tweeted in late April about their return to Georgia for Season 5 of “The Walking Dead.”

Unfortunately spoilers for Season 5 are scarce right now, but Norman Reedus did reveal to Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming season is “gonna be just completely insane.”

How insane are we talking? Thanks to showrunner Scott Gimple, we know that fans can expect a shift in location and tone for Rick and the gang … making a “very, very, very intense” season.
