KEY POINTS

  • James Wiseman remains grounded and is not yet cleared for physical activities
  • Wiseman could be back after the regular season, giving the Warriors a much-needed help in the playoffs
  • Golden State recently welcomed Klay Thompson back

The Golden State Warriors are surging atop the Western Conference standings, and things are bound to get better with Klay Thompson back in harness.

However, there is another player that Dubs Nation is eager to see back in action–James Wiseman.

The second overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft by the Warriors remains on the sidelines since suffering a torn right meniscus in April of last year and underwent surgery four days later.

This was the reason why the 7-footer missed the entire 2020-21 season, CBS Sports reported.

With roughly nine months gone, there remains no timetable on when the Memphis standout can return to action.

In an update by Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, a definite date on when the young center will be back is unknown.

Furthermore, he has not been cleared for any kind of contact-related activity.

The best update Warriors coach Steve Kerr could give is that Wiseman is making progress in rehab when he spoke to NBC Sports.

While the Warriors have been successful thus far, seeing Wiseman help out his teammates is something that could boost their drive to the playoffs and possibly another NBA Finals stint.

Hence, all the Warriors and their legions of followers can do right now is wait and see if Wiseman will be up and about soon.

Without him and Thompson, Golden State was pretty much successful leaning on the likes of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins.

Thompson is officially back in the fold, with added firepower that makes the Warriors all the more lethal.

Wiseman’s return may not be of the same magnitude, but the young cager does give the Dubs height and added toughness particularly inside the paint.

At any rate, a return in the playoffs may be possible and something that would address that need.
