The Season 11 finale of American Idol was not only about singing, but it was also about love! American Idol alumni Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo got engaged during the season finale Wednesday night.

The American Idol veterans and romantic couple took to the stage after Ryan Seacrest acknowledged them sitting in the crowd.

When they reached the stage, Seacrest said, dim the lights, a phrase he utters during every results show. But, before Phillip Phillips was named the winner over Jessica Sanchez, Ace Young had a very special question to ask girlfriend Diana DeGarmo, 24.

This has always been home to us and I felt that this would be the perfect place to ask a simple question, Young told Seacrest. DeGarmo looked shocked and began giggling, possibly knowing what was about to come from her boyfriend of almost two years.

We have conquered Broadway together. We have created our new music together. We have an amazing group of people around us. And with the help of David Webb jewelryI have a way to make this last forever. Are you ready? the 31-year-old asked.

I love you to death. You're my best friend. I want to make this last forever and I will do anything in my power to have the most ... amazing life together if you will have me. Diana Nicole DeGarmo, will you marry me?

A tearful and elated DeGarmo replied, Yes! Yes!

The crowd cheered and the show went on, but Young made sure to share the news with those who missed it.

@DianaDeGarmo MY GIRL SAID YESSSSSSSSSSSSDDSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! I am the luckiest man in the WORLD! Young tweeted Wednesday night.

The newly-engaged both competed on American Idol, just during different seasons. DeGarmo competed in Season 3 in 2004 and came in second behind winner Fantasia Barrino. Young competed in Season 6 and made it to the top seven.

Born in Alabama and raised in Georgia, DeGarmo went on to record her own albums and star on Broadway. She met beau Ace Young in March 2010 when she took a role in the Broadway company of Hair. The two remained in the show until it closed on June 27 that year. They first moved in together in January, according to People magazine.
