KJ Apa is a 22-year-old New Zeland native that has proven time and time again that not only can he play an American teenager in both TV and film, but he can also sing.

The “Riverdale” lead sings almost as much as he acts, despite confessing it makes him “uncomfortable,” according to People. His upcoming lead movie role in “I Still Believe,” which premieres March 13, places him front and center as both an actor and vocalist.

“I’m super uncomfortable when I sing,” he said. “I went into the studio in Nashville — I did that first before we shot anything — and I think that really gave me perspective on the film.”

This is by no means Apa’s first experience with singing on a set. The “Riverdale” cast’s many musical moments have left many fans wondering: can Apa actually sing? The answer is yes, and he can also play both bass and electric guitar. The actor is also in a band called Legend (formerly The Good Times Boys).

Here’s a look back at Apa’s musical performances as Archie Andrews on “Riverdale” before “I Still Believe” premieres March 13.

Season 1, Episode 6

Despite the numerous times early on in “Riverdale” when Apa’s character is seen sitting on a porch caressing his guitar, this is one of the first times audiences actually got to hear his voice.

Season 1, Episode 11

The homecoming dance in “Riverdale” world means, of course, more drama, but also the show’s lead once again taking the stage to perform at school. He sings alongside “Riverdale” co-star Camila Mendes the song, “Kids in America” by Kim Wilde.

Season 2, Episode 8 [NSFW]

Apa sings, “Mad World” by Gary Jules along with Mendes once again.

Season 2, Episode 18, “Carrie”

In the series’ first official musical episode, “Chapter Thirty-One: A Night to Remember,” the cast prepares to perform “Carrie the Musical” in the show. Fans are treated to a sweet moment of Apa’s character cheering up Betty (Lili Reinhart) through song.

Season 3, Episode 16

In the latest musical episode Apa once again takes to the stage but this time not solo. He and the rest of the “Riverdale” cast perform, “Seventeen” from “Heathers: The Musical.”
