A Florida man arrested on indecent exposure charges said he had to expose himself in a department store because his genitals were itchy.

Dwight Eddington was also accused of following a shopper inside the Bealls store in Sanford last Friday, Orlando television station WKMG reported Wednesday.

Eddington wouldn’t talk to WKMG, but he reportedly denied touching himself to police, telling authorities he “had an itch and had to expose himself in order to scratch.”

WKMG obtained surveillance video from the Sanford department store that shows Eddington looking around and then hiding behind a clothes rack. The station then blurred the remaining part of the footage, which supposedly shows Eddington walking around with his genitals exposed.

Eddington was arrested on indecent exposure charges, and authorities said he “appeared to have been following a customer inside the store” while touching himself.

A shopper said she was concerned over the incident.

"I'm going in to shop. I don't think about someone following me around and watching me," the unidentified woman told WKMG. "That's really creepy. He might follow me home."

According to the station, Eddington is no stranger to police. The Florida man was arrested in October after he allegedly strangled somebody during a domestic violence incident.
