Following the death of singer George Michael, many fans have wondered what will become of his fortune.

Michael’s estate is valued at $125 million and could see up to $10 million more over the next two years, thanks to an increase in popularity for his music. The “Careless Whisper” singer, who sold nearly 100 million albums during his lifetime, has now seen more than a 3,100 percent increase in plays on Spotify.

According to entertainment attorney Donald David, the increase in plays will benefit Michael’s estate in years to come. “His estate could see somewhere in the vicinity of $7 to $10 million,” David told People. “The music already, in terms of streaming and downloads, has increased significantly since news of his death.”

Two of the singer’s biggest hit songs — “Careless Whisper” and “Faith” — currently have over 56 million and 42 million plays, respectively. Spotify analyzed the streams of Michael’s music on Dec. 26 vs. the same time on Dec. 25, the day of his death.

It’s still uncertain who will get the late singer’s estate seeing as he was never married and never had children but according to a statement from his publicist, his family is involved with his affairs.

“It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period,” reads the statement. “The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage.”

Following Michael’s death, there was an outpouring of stories from individuals who revealed the singer’s love for charity. According to TV host Richard Osman, “A woman on ‘Deal or No Deal’ told us she needed £15k for IVF treatment. George Michael secretly phoned the next day and gave her the £15k.” Other reports say Michael gave millions throughout the years to the children’s charity, Childline, opting to remain anonymous.

The singer was found dead on Dec. 25 in his Oxfordshire, England, home. His body was discovered by his boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz. He was 53. According to the singer’s manager, Michael died from heart failure.
