Amazon Prime Day is usually hosted in early July each year. For obvious, global pandemic-related reasons, that plan wasn’t super feasible this year.

Amazon has since stated that it would be delaying the annual sale extravaganza to later in the year but hasn’t been any more specific than Q4 2020. However, as uncovered by CNBC in partner emails sent by Amazon over the summer, the company allegedly set October as a placeholder month for the event. Getting more specific, some industry insiders have guessed Oct. 5 as the exact date, as it would keep Prime Day far away enough from Black Friday deals, which will start around Oct. 26.

Despite this supposed leak, Amazon has remained coy about the specific date for Prime Day, refusing to deny or confirm the October rumor.

“We can confirm PD will take place in Q4,” a company spokesperson told the Verge.

Typically taking place over one or two days, Prime Day offers Amazon Prime subscribers a plethora of sales on products from all corners of the site. The company is known to foreground its own products, like Alexa speakers and Fire TVs, with these products getting the most eye-catching price drops. In 2019, Prime Day was estimated to have brought in $6 billion in business.
