Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY) has announced which 63 stores it is closing as part of its previously announced restructuring plan which includes revamping its retail portfolio and closing underperforming locations.

Bed Bath & Beyond, which operates namesake stores as well as locations under the buybuy BABY, Harmon Face Values, and World Market brands, announced in October 2019 that it was planning on closing a total of 60 stores that year. This number was later reduced to 40 stores, with the remaining 20 locations delayed until the first half of 2020.

The store closures are expected to save Bed Bath & Beyond between $250 and $350 million annually, CEO Mark Tritton said during a call with analysts in July, as reported by USA Today. The closures come as part of a bigger plan to close 200 stores chainwide over the next two years.

Bed Bath & Beyond temporarily closed all of its stores in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. The company had reopened 50% of its stores by June with a series of safety measures in place. In August, Bed Bath & Beyond cut 2,800 workers in a move that it said would save it $150 million a year.

Tritton, who has led the retailer’s restructuring process, said, “The impact of the COVID-19 situation was felt across our business during our fiscal first quarter, including loss of sales due to temporary store closures and margin pressure from the substantial channel shift to digital.”

The company reported a first-quarter net sales decline of 49% due to the store closures, compared to a year earlier. However, its digital channels grew by 82%, representing nearly two-thirds of its total net sales for the quarter.

Bed Bath & Beyond, which has over nearly 1,500 stores under its corporate umbrella, will close these 63 stores by the end of 2020, CNN reported.
