  • It was not the first time the boxer was arrested for domestic violence
  • He was charged with "battering" his ex-girlfriend in 2020
  • The boxing champ was scheduled to fight Hector Luis Garcia on Jan. 7

Professional boxer Gervonta "Tank" Davis was arrested in Florida Tuesday evening. He was reportedly booked into the Broward County Jail on domestic violence charge.

Details of the boxing champion's arrest and the domestic violence incident were not immediately available, according to the New York Post.

It was not the first time Davis was arrested for domestic violence. He was charged with simple battery and domestic violence in 2020 after a video of him "battering" an ex-girlfriend, with whom he had a child, at a charity basketball game in Miami. He surrendered to the police after the said clip went public.

Warning: This video might be disturbing to some viewers.

If convicted for the recent charge, Davis could face up to a year in prison or 12 months probation and a $1,000 fine. Additional penalties could be levied, which may include loss of important civil liberties like concealed carry rights, a "no contact" order and a lifetime criminal record for that offense.

Who Is Davis' Girlfriend in 2022?

The boxer's dating life underwent scrutiny in April 2021 after he posted an Instagram in which he noted, "I can't stop cheating on my girl." Davis was able to delete it immediately, but this did not stop netizens from sleuthing to decode the meaning behind the post.

Davis was dating Instagram model Vanessa Posso at the time, and a virtual war broke out between her and another woman named Ashley Burgos. Davis was allegedly cheating on Posso with Burgos.

After admitting to cheating on Posso, Davis appeared to make amends by saying, "Come back home," in his comment on one of the Instagram model's posts. However, the romance between the two is believed to have been over since then.

There's no information about who Davis is dating in 2022.

Schedule Davis' Future Fights

The knockout artist was slated to have a match against Hector Luis Garcia in Washington D.C. on Jan. 7.

In November, Davis and Ryan Garcia confirmed that they would face off in Las Vegas in 2023.

"I'm so pumped this fight is finally in place I want it more than anything right now," Ryan tweeted. "I've put in the work, I'm at the prime of my career, and I know I'm going to be the biggest boxer in the world. That legacy starts today."

"I'll be back in the ring Jan 7 stay tuned for more details! After that it's me and Ryan signed sealed delivered...done deal!" Davis noted in a tweet.

Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza issued a statement after the champions expressed their desire to make the fight happen.

"Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia is one of the biggest and most exciting fights that can be made in boxing. We have two supremely talented boxers, both in their prime, who have amassed huge fanbases, meeting in a career-defining fight, Espinoza said, as per CBS Sports. "This is the epitome of a crossover boxing event. All credit to Tank and Ryan for staying the course and giving the fans the fight they want."
