Peruvian shamans on Wednesday performed an ancestral ritual ahead of the November election and attempted to predict the winner of the race between Republican President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

Shamanism is a practice that involves interacting with a spirit world. The shamans used incense, smoke and photos of the two candidates during the ritual. They invoked the “Pachamama,” or mother earth, to ask that the election take place in peace.

Shaman teacher Ana Maria Simeon said she supported Biden.

“That is why we are cleansing him (...) we have seen that they are attacking him with witchcraft, with a black doll, with a voodoo doll they are shadowing to remove him,” she told Reuters.

Another shaman asked for “good energies” to give Trump.

Recent general election polls show Biden with a strong nationwide lead over Trump. A YouGov poll released Wednesday showed Biden with a 9-point lead over Trump, 51% to 42%.

According to opinion poll analytics site FiveThirtyEight, Biden has a 76 in 100 chance of winning the election. Trump has a 24 in 100 chance.

Allan Lichtman, a history professor who has accurately predicted every election since 1984, forecast Trump will lose the presidential race, based on his “13 keys” system.
