Update (6:34 p.m.): IBTimes has obtained the following statement from Royce White's attorney regarding Tania Mehra's allegations of domestic violence:

"Royce has seen today’s media reports that law enforcement in Texas is investigating claims of domestic violence by a terminated and disgruntled former employee of his charitable organization. Royce vehemently denies the allegations and is looking forward to a speedy and just resolution of these unfortunate and unfair claims. It is all too easy to make allegations, especially when directed at a person who is in the public eye. Royce hopes that the media will be equally attentive when these allegations ultimately are rejected."

Philadelphia 76ers forward Royce White is the focus of a police investigation after allegedly beating his former girlfriend, Maxim model Tania Mehra.

Mehra, a 26-year-old Maxim model, filed a police report on Aug. 30 claiming that White had assaulted her in June, TMZ reports. The incident reportedly occurred at White’s Houston-area residence.

Law enforcement records reportedly reveal that an unspecified individual had called police in June, claiming that Mehra had suffered a “laceration” above her right eye, TMZ reports. Mehra initially told police that she received the eye injury after an “accidental fall.” Photos of Mehra's eye injury can be viewed here.

However, Mehra has since changed her story, telling local police last week that she lied during her initial contact with police, TMZ reports. Mehra now claims that White was responsible for her injury. “The victim said she had lied earlier because the suspect played for the NBA and did not want the incident to damage his career,” police involved in the White investigation told TMZ.

Mehra also reportedly informed police that the beating incident occurred after she and White argued over his purported interest in his ex-girlfriend’s friend. "The victim stated that White had assaulted her after she became angered by his advances toward her friend,” police told TMZ.

Sources familiar with the situation provided further information on the alleged beating, TMZ reports. According to the sources, Mehra alleges that Royce threw a candleholder at her during their argument, but missed and shattered a mirror instead. TMZ obtained a photo of the mirror, which can be viewed here.

Despite his former girlfriend’s claims, police have yet to file any formal charges against White, TMZ reports. Authorities have only said that the alleged domestic incident is “under investigation.” Neither White nor his representatives have commented on Mehra’s allegations.

White, 22, is a former first round draft pick of the Houston Rockets. He missed his entire rookie season due to “mental health issues,” and was traded to the 76ers in July. White’s struggles with OCD and social anxiety were once documented in an episode of HBO’s “Real Sports” series, TMZ notes.

Mehra, his former girlfriend, was named Miss India USA in 2011. She has appeared on Maxim.com and VH1.
